Bentley’s all-new Bentayga SUV might have been leaked online as a 1:18 die-cast model ahead of its official reveal at the Frankfurt motor show next month.
Appearing late last night on Car News China, the model of the SUV -- which has been the subject of a drawn-out teaser campaign -- was thought to have been leaked by someone with access to the Chinese toy factory tasked with manufacturing souvenir models for the Frankfurt show.
Bentley so far has refused to confirm or deny whether the models are real but is already reported to have begun investigating the source of the leak, adding validity to claims that the model was based on measurement, proportions and scale drawings of the real, full-size car.
Until now, Bentley has been slowly drip-feeding information regarding the Bentayga, including interior to full videos of disguised prototypes showing its mountain-climbing ability in Spain.
What we know so far is it will be powered by an all-new twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre W12 offering 410kW and 700Nm, is expected to be joined by a twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8, a plug-in version and possibly even a diesel engine – all shared with Audi's new Q7, which is built on the same MLB Evo platform.
Because of that big W12 the Bentayga will be one of the fastest full-size SUVs on the market with a 0-100km/h time comfortably below five seconds, as well as one of the fastest with a top speed of "well over" 275km/h.
When it arrives here next year the mould-breaking British wagon is expected to be Australia's most expensive SUV.
Die-cast models have in the past revealed previously unseen models for the first time, including last year’s Land Rover Discovery Sport and Porsche’s most recent 991 GT3 RS.
