Leaked images: BMW F10 M5

BMW's all-new super sedan revealed in all its glory

BMW's all-new F10 M5 is due to be officially revealed (at least in 'concept' form) at the Shanghai motor show later this month, but these leaked images have surfaced on the internet ahead of schedule.

The pics were allegedly captured at a private gathering for a select group of journalists last weekend, and what they show is a pumped, ripped sedan that sits closer to the tarmac, and its footprint also appears discernibly broader.

The most obvious differentiators between the Concept M5 -- don't read too much into the "concept" part, as the production reality is likely to be all but unchanged -- and standard 5 Series models are the huge gloss black rims (which look to be about 20 inches in diameter), menacing snout and trademark quad exhausts.

The bespoke front bumper/spoiler features a trio of air intakes and an inbuilt splitter, while the quartet of tailpipes protrude from a purposeful looking rear diffuser. Other tweaks to the derriere include a subtle lip spoiler integrated into the bootlid.

Meanwhile, the profile is distinguished by lightly flared front guards and chrome-rimmed fender vents.

As previously reported, the new M5 will be powered by a (possibly uprated) version of the 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 that propels the X6M and X5M, in which it thumps out 408kW and 680Nm.

The force-fed V8 will be mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and, as per the superseded E60 M5, there will again be a drive-control system enabling the driver to tailor engine, transmission, steering and suspension settings according to their preference.
