The Finer Details

Leapmotor has confirmed pricing and specifications for the B03X ahead of its Australian launch next month.

The small electric SUV will be offered in two rear-wheel-drive variants, opening with the Style at $29,990 drive-away. It uses a 39.8kWh lithium iron phosphate battery paired with a 130kW electric motor, with a claimed WLTP driving range of up to 292km.

The Design LR is priced from $33,990 drive-away and upgrades to a larger 53kWh battery, a 145kW electric motor and a claimed driving range of up to 382km.

Australian specifications differ from the Chinese-market vehicle tested by carsales earlier this year, which was sold overseas as the A10 and used lower-output front-wheel-drive powertrains.

Both local variants receive a 14.6-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, satellite navigation, wireless phone charging and over-the-air software updates.

Safety equipment includes seven airbags, adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist and rear cross-traffic alert.

Measuring 4270mm long, the B03X sits in the same part of the market as the BYD Atto 2 and Geely EX2. Boot space is quoted at up to 1315L with the rear seats folded.

DC charging peaks at 100kW in the Style and 133kW in the Design LR, with Leapmotor claiming a 30 to 80 per cent recharge can be completed in approximately 16 minutes under ideal conditions.

The Road Ahead

The B03X arrives as Leapmotor expands its Australian line-up beyond the larger B10 SUV and C10 midsize SUV.

During a recent carsales drive in China, the B03X's styling, cabin technology and packaging showed promise, though its soft suspension tune and modest performance suggested local calibration work would be beneficial for Australian conditions.

The confirmed sub-$30,000 drive-away pricing gives Leapmotor one of the most affordable entry points into EV ownership and positions the B03X directly against a growing group of budget-focused electric SUVs.

How much does the Leapmotor B03X cost?
Style – $29,990 drive-away
Design LR – $33,990 drive-away

*Drive-away pricing applies to vehicles delivered between 1 October and 31 December 2026. Premium paint costs an additional $990.
