Ever owned a car that seemed like a great buy at the time, but soon proved to be a terrible decision?
Maybe it guzzled a lot more fuel than the manufacturer promised, or perhaps it was subject to numerous safety recalls, forcing it to spend more time at the dealership than on the road. Ahem, we’re looking at you, WK Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Well, your fellow US motorists have spoken out and revealed to research company Consumer Reports (CR) the most underwhelming and disappointing cars they’ve had the misfortune of calling their own.
The results come from a combination of owner satisfaction scores collected by CR, as well as its own data on each vehicle.

That said, there’s no hard evidence or safety concerns to suggest any of the following vehicles are a significantly poor choice, so it’s worth taking the survey results with a grain of salt, as they are simply the opinion of others.
Coming in at number one for the least satisfying to own is the Toyota C-HR, with a measly 29 per cent of respondents saying they’d buy the small SUV again.
It was followed closely by the Ford EcoSport at 30 per cent and the Chevrolet (Holden) Trax at 37 per cent – both of which have been discontinued in Australia but are still sold in other markets.

Another surprising model to make the list is the Nissan Rogue Sport, better known as the Nissan X-TRAIL to us Down Under, with less than half of owners (42 per cent) saying they’d be happy to have another.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, two Jeep SUVs made the list, with the Compass and smaller Renegade (also axed Down Under) both scoring 46 per cent for “would buy again appeal”.
Kia’s Forte (Cerato) small passenger car also made the list, coming in equal 10th place with the Cadillac XT4 SUV (not sold in Oz), each scoring 47 per cent.
