The box has been opened and the plastic wrapping has come off the latest in a long line of fun partnerships between brands and LEGO. This time, the plastic brick company has teamed up with the BBC TV show Top Gear for a new LEGO Technic App Controlled Rally Car. The ‘authentic looking GT rally car’ as they are calling it is for ages 9 years and above and will be available in stores globally from the 26th December 2019.
LEGO and the Top Gear teams have worked together to design the body of the car and accompanying stickers to create a realistic looking racer for fans to build at home. We can’t quite figure out exactly which GT rally car they were trying to model this one off but we’re sure even the Stig himself would drive this around the Top Gear test track.
Now for the fun stuff, there are 463 LEGO parts used to build the rally car including a large motor, an XL motor and a Bluetooth controlled smart hub. Once you've pieced it all together, the rally car can be controlled using your smartphone via the LEGO Technic CONTROL+ app.
The app will allow you to drive and steer your LEGO creation via multi-touch control and gyro control. The app will also include several challenges and achievements for drivers to unlock creating an immersive play experience.
From around $129 the product will be available globally from the 26th December 2019, just in time for the Boxing Day sales. Now to build your own LEGO Stig!
