Honda Civic Type R LEGO car revealed
World-first life-size Honda Civic Type R built using LEGO bricks took 320,000 pieces and 1300 hours to constructHonda Australia and LEGO have created a life-size model of the Honda Civic Type R.
The 1:1 model is claimed to be the work of not one, but nine LEGO Certified Professionals who took more than 1300 hours to complete using an incredible 320,000 bricks.
Beneath the structure, the small LEGO pieces are said to be supported by a steel frame.
Unlike the recent LEGO Senna or Chiron, the Civic Type R doesn't have an interior or roll or drive, but it does get wheels made entirely from LEGO – an impressive effort as, aside from that frame, no custom parts are used in the Honda's construction.
Claimed to be a classic case of reverse engineering by the LEGO pros, some of the obstacles to overcome building the Honda hot hatch included replicating both the Civic Type R's dainty rear windscreen wiper and reproducing its enormous rear wing.
Featuring working lights and intricate red LEGO Honda logos, the model will make its first appearance on April 28 during Channel Nine's new LEGO Masters TV show, in which the Civic Type R model will be judged by TV personality Hamish Blake.
