Kids with a passion for high-performance Fords will be raring to get a foot in the door of the local toyshop, following the news that Lego has added the Mustang and F-150 Raptor to its Speed Champions range.
Scheduled to go on sale in the US from March 1, the new sets will come with race track accessories as well. Those accessories include a time board and race driver for the Mustang, plus a garage, trailer, 'Christmas tree', pit crew and a Model A hot rod all included in the F-150 Raptor set. According to Lego, the Mustang is a 185-piece set, but the F-150 comprises 664 pieces altogether.
"The LEGO Group is one of the world's top toy companies and is loved by children and adults around the globe," said Joe Hinrichs, Ford's president of The Americas.

"Many of us grew up playing with LEGO, so this is a dream project for many of us – including our engineers."
Lego has been in constant communication with Ford during the development of the new kits, to ensure branding and design are correct for both, even for the packaging.
"We are excited about the new LEGO Speed Champions sets based on iconic Ford vehicles," said Jill Wilfert, vice president, licensing & entertainment at The LEGO Group.
"Each LEGO Ford car tells a story and has infinite play possibilities. With these new sets, kids can play out their ultimate car fantasies. They are able to role play and become the LEGO minifigure, stepping into the greatest cars on earth."
