Lepas L6 EV specifications confirmed for Australia

Lepas Australia has released the first detailed specifications for its incoming L6 EV, revealing a 440km WLTP driving range, extensive standard technology and the brand's new intelligent LEX platform ahead of the medium SUV's Australian launch in October.

Having already confirmed the L6 as its first Australian model, Chery-backed brand Lepas has now outlined what buyers can expect when the electric medium SUV arrives later this year.

The newcomer will introduce the company's dedicated intelligent LEX platform to Australia, an architecture designed to support both battery-electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles across multiple model lines.

Power comes from a front-mounted electric motor producing 160kW and 275Nm, paired with a 65kWh lithium iron phosphate battery. Lepas claims a driving range of 440km on the WLTP cycle, while energy consumption is rated at 17.5kWh/100km.

DC charging capability allows the battery to charge from 30 to 80 per cent in approximately 22 minutes.

While previous announcements focused heavily on Lepas' design-led positioning, today's release places greater emphasis on technology and interior equipment.

Standard features include an 8.88-inch digital instrument display, 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 50W wireless phone charging and a Sony eight-speaker sound system.

Heated and ventilated front seats, synthetic leather upholstery, selectable ambient lighting, a powered tailgate and a panoramic sunroof are also included.

Safety equipment comprises seven airbags, adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure prevention and a 360-degree camera system. The L6 will also offer Automatic Parking Assist and Remote Parking Assist functions.

"The L6 represents an exciting new chapter for our business and marks the arrival of Lepas in Australia," said Lepas Australia chief operating officer Lucas Harris.

"LEPAS has been developed around the concept of 'Bold by nature' – bringing together sophisticated design and colours, intelligent technology and advanced electrification in a way that is relevant to the everyday needs of Australian customers."

Lepas will publicly showcase the L6 EV for the first time at the Everything Electric event at Sydney Olympic Park from September 18-20 before the model reaches Australian showrooms in October.

Pricing remains under wraps, though the brand says further details will be announced closer to launch. The L6 is expected to target the heart of Australia's increasingly competitive electric medium SUV segment, where rivals include the BYD Atto 3 and Tesla Model Y.
