Lexus has updated its top-selling SUV, the RX330. Now known as the RX350, the all-wheel drive boasts a new all-alloy dual-VVT-i 3.5-litre V6 engine.
With 203kW and 341Nm of torque, Lexus claims it is the most powerful six-cylinder four-wheel drive in its class.
The new engine is 18 per cent more powerful and has four per cent more torque than the single-VVT-i 3.3-litre unit it replaces (172kW at 5600rpm and 330Nm at 3600rpm). Despite this, the maker claims the new RX350 has reduced its fuel consumption to a combined average of 11.2lt/100km. Lexus says the RX350 also offers reduced emissions compared to RX330.
The RX has been Lexus’ most successful model globally and, since its Australian launch in April 2003, RX330 has consistently ranked as one of the highest-selling luxury SUVs in Australia. It has been awarded Best Cars' Luxury Four Wheel Drive gong for three years running. It also topped the Four Wheel Drive section of the NRMA Rear Visibility Index last year, in addition to a collection of international accolades, says Lexus.
Two versions of the new RX350 will be offered: RX350 Sports priced from $74,800 and the higher-spec RX350 Sports Luxury which has a recommended retail of $84,100.
Equipment in the Sports includes sunroof, a host of safety features and full leather interior. In addition to the impressive level of standard equipment, the Sports Luxury gets navigation and a six-disc 11-speaker CD/DVD changer which allows DVDs to be viewed.
