Lexus and Honda have just unveiled their Super GT spec (GT500 class) race cars for the 2014 season at this weekend's Super GT race at Suzuka Circuit.
The 'NSX Concept GT' is based on the
NSX Concept which debuted at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show. It is powered by a mid-mounted, direct injection, turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine specially fitted with a racing hybrid system that is expected to generate over 400kW (550hp).
Meanwhile, Lexus unveiled its race car based on the RC F sports car that will debut at next year's Detroit Auto Show.
In other Super GT news, ex-gamer and Gran Turismo Academy's inaugural champion, Spaniard Lucas Ordonez, will pilot a Nissan GT-R GT3 spec car for the first time in Japan's Super GT series, having captured a podium finish in his first Le Mans 24-hours in 2011 and a class win in the Nissan GT-R at last year's Nurburgring 24-hours.
Ordonez has also just completed his first shakedown run in the Nissan Altima V8 Supercar at Winton Raceway last month and is expected to compete in next year's V8 Supercar series.
