Lexus Hybrid flagship points the way for new LS

Lexus launched its LF-Sh hybrid flagship at last week's Tokyo Show. If you can ignore the flash paint, you're looking at the next generation LS...

Lexus has provided a look at its next generation LS flagship via its LF-Sh hybrid luxury concept vehicle.

Unveiled at last week's Tokyo Show, the LF-Sh is Lexus' fifth concept vehicle conceived under the Japanese luxury brand's L-finesse styling program. Providing strong clues (read: what you see is what you get!) to the next generation LS430, the luxury hybrid is an all-wheel-drive, powered by a V8 engine and hybrid electric motors.

Oft critised for its derivative Mercedes-Benz-like looks, the LS launched the brand Down Under in LS400 form in the late 1980s. Most recently updated in 2001-02, the LS430 is the brand's flagship and remains a strong performer despite its $170K-plus pricetag.

The LF-Sh was revealed alongside Lexus' V10 LF-A supercar concept vehicle and what Lexus claims is the world's first rear-drive luxury hybrid vehicle, GS450h sedan. The latter will be launched in Australia early next year.

Lexus says the LF-Sh continues the company's commitment to high-performance hybrid vehicles.

"Performance, styling and advanced technology were core themes of the Lexus reveals at the Tokyo Motor Show," Lexus Australia divisional manager Scott Grant (pictured) said.
