Lexus has revealed its Premium Rear Seat Entertainment (RSE) system in Australia, available on RX models.
Both the Lexus RX 350 and RX 450h can be optioned with the systems, which integrate into the seat backs. They've been crash tested and kid tested -- designed complete with curved edges and integrated with the active headrests.
Both units have side-loading DVD slots, USB ports, AUX inputs for gaming consoles and SD card slots for further media. The Lexus RSE units are operated independently (hence the plethora of multimedia slots on each screen) via manual controls underneath the screens, or simultaneously via remote control. The screens themselves are 'tablet-form' units according to Lexus, and are full colour, high-resolution screens in WVGA (widescreen) format measuring eight inches. Audio can be piped through infrared wireless headphones, which can be folded up for space saving when stowed.
Lexus says the RSE units are "made from materials matched to the interior of RX" and provide the RX models with "a premium look and feel". The new Rear Seat Entertainment systems are available for the RX 350 and RX 450h from all Lexus dealers.
