Lexus has announced that its strong-selling RX 270 SUV will be offered in 'X' Special Edition format for a limited time, priced from $67,013 (excluding LCT and on-road costs).
The RX 270 X Special Edition is based on the RX 270 Luxury model, but with added extras such as adaptive front lighting, illuminated scuff plates, parking sensors, head-up display, smart key entry, front seat heaters and a rear luggage tray.
The RX 270 X Special Edition is identified externally by premium paint (available in five tones), 19-inch alloy wheels, Sports Luxury-grade bumpers and 'X' bading. An electrically-operated tilt and slide Moonroof is available as part of a $3500 Enhancement Pack.
Lexus says the RX 270 X Special Edition is as much about substance as it is elegance, and includes several features as standard that its competitors charge a premium for. These include HDD satellite navigation, 10 airbags and leather accented perforated upholstery, available in two shades.
As standard, the LX 270 Luxury on which the 'X' Special Edition is based also includes DAB+ digital radio, a 12-speaker premium audio system with Bluetooth and iPod connectivity, rear-view camera with guidance, LED daytime running lamps, and 10-way adjustable front seats with three memory settings.
The luxury SUV is powered by a 138kW, 2.7-litre four-cylinder petrol engine driving the front wheels. Lexus says the LX 270 is capable of achieving a combined cycle fuel economy figure of 9.7L/100km.
The Lexus RX line has been a good sales contributor for Lexus in the Large SUV category (over $70K), selling a year-to-date total of 1161 units (to the end of June, 2013).
June (monthly) sales of 280 Lexus RX vehicles accounted for 15.1 per cent of the segment, beating the Mercedes-Benz M-Class (222 units) and Audi Q7 (145 units). Only the BMW X5 (362) had more sales in the segment in June.
