Lotus has announced it will offer an even more powerful version of its hardcore Exige Cup that is both lighter and more powerful than the standard car.
Called the 360 Cup (after 360hp), Lotus has managed to carve 45kg off the Cup’s already featherweight 1175kg mass. The weight-saving comes from numerous lighter body panels including a new front clamshell and rear tailgate.
Under the bonnet a free-flowing exhaust liberates an extra 7kW from the Toyota-sourced supercharged 3.5-litre V6 that now produces a total of 265kW.
It’s not known how much quicker the lighter, more powerful Exige is, but to help cope with the extra performance the 360 Cup gets grooved brake discs and lightweight motorsport wheels to dissipate heat more efficiently.
Inside there’s 360 Cup embroidered seats and dash panel.
To reflect its track day appetite, the 360 Exige also comes with the option of adjustable anti-roll bars, Ohlins race dampers, a fire extinguisher, electrical cut-off switch, FIA-approved race seats and a removable steering wheel. Air-conditioning is also an option.
Just 50 of the 360 Cups will be made, with only four colours on offer -- white, grey, black or silver.
In the UK the Lotus Exige 360 Cup will cost around $120,000. It’s not yet known if any will make it Down Under.
