Lighter, faster more powerful BMW M3 CS coming
M division’s family friendly CS coupe set to be its fastest four-doorBMW is working on a fast four-door version of its ultra-limited-run M4 CS.
Sharing the M4 CS’ 338kW/600Nm twin-turbo 3.0-litre straight-six engine, the new M3 CS will produce an additional 7kW/50Nm over the M3 Competition Pack.
According to German BMW blog BimmerToday, this will allow the small M sedan to hit 100km/h in just 3.9 seconds and top out at 280km/h - exactly the same as the M4 CS.
Featuring the same aero tweaks as the CS coupe, the sedan will run a new fixed front splitter plus a small boot lid spoiler.
The BMW M3 CS will share the coupe's carbon-fibre roof, bonnet and boot lid – which combined should pare more than 30kg from the standard M3.
Like the M4 CS, the faster and lighter M3 version will feature a bespoke suspension set-up likely to feature stiffer springs and re-calibrated adaptive dampers.
Set to go on sale in 2018, the M3 CS is almost certain to be offered for sale in Australia following confirmation a small batch of M4 CSs will arrive in local BMW showrooms this October.
It's thought the M3 CS will be priced around $200,000, commanding a healthy premium over the regular M3 sedan which carries a $129,900 (plus on-road costs) price tag.
