Mitsubishi's 380 large car sells at a lower price than most entries in the medium car segment. On purchase price alone, the big Mitsu offers good value.
Now, providing further incentive to buy the 380, a new limited edition model incorporates an estimated $6000 worth of extra features.
The 380 Platinum Edition -- priced at the same $28,990 figure as for the 380 ES with manual transmission -- revives a name ascribed to the 380 in the past to move cars out of showrooms through extra inducements.
Based on the entry-level 380 ES, the Platinum variant provides a little more visual pizzaz with 17-inch alloy wheels in a six-spoke design, sports suspension, unique badging, body-coloured fog light bezels, a chrome exhaust tip and platinum coordinating colour for the upper and lower grille sections.
Additional features that come with the package include electric sunroof, Bluetooth connectivity and a secondary 12V accessory socket to power or recharge portable electronic devices. The 380 Platinum can be specified in five colours and automatic transmission is available as an option. As a further option, the 380 Platinum with auto can be purchased with the factory-fitted dual-fuel LPG system.
Mitsubishi will be building just 1000 units and the company values the extra features at $6000 retail.
