Limited edition Ford Territory SR2

Ford is building on its mid-size SUV's on-going sales success with a new 'special value pack' model, the Territory SR2

The Ford Territory continues to sell around a thousand units a month, even last month. That sort of performance is impressive, since the SUV, which first saw the light of day in 2004, was expected to lose a lot of ground to Toyota's much newer Kluger.

Intent on keeping the Territory high up in the sales rankings, Ford has introduced another limited edition model, the Territory SR2.

Ford estimates the new Territory variant adds $5645 worth of extra value to the TX-grade variant on which it's based. Additional features to set the SR2 apart from the TX include a seven-spoke design of 17-inch alloy wheel, unique badging, body-colour pack, rear entertainment system, colour-coordinated (Warm Charcoal) trim for the centre console lid and doors, cruise control and leather trim for the steering wheel, the gear-shift knob, the handbrake gaiter and partial leather trim for the seats.

The rear entertainment system comprises an Alpine DVD system, a 10.2-inch screen, remote control and a pair of wireless headphones. Ford will offer the limited edition models with the additional colour options of Seduce and Sensation, colours that are usually restricted to the Territory Ghia and Turbo.

Beth Donovan, newly appointed Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Ford Australia, has announced the new model with a further $1000 discount to buy the rear-wheel drive SR2 variant for a limited time.

"With $5645 worth of extra value at no additional cost, including the luxury of a rear DVD system to keep the family entertained on long trips, the Territory SR2 will be introduced with a recommended retail price of $37,990 for the rear-wheel drive variant," she was quoted as saying in the company's press release.

"However, for a limited time, the Territory SR2 RWD will be available for the recommended offer price of $36,990, which is a truly amazing deal that improves the value equation for customers by a further $1000."

An all-wheel drive version is also available, priced at $42,990, and both variants go on sale from today (October 1).
