Holden Special Vehicles' first take on the four-wheel drive Colorado dual-cab ute has been on the market for the best part of a year now, and now the SportsCat and SportsCat+ have been joined by a limited-edition 'R' variant.
Just 100 examples of the HSV Colorado SportsCat R will be available locally – 98 for Australia and two for New Zealand – with local pricing set at $65,990 (plus on-road costs), which includes a standard Active Select six-speed automatic transmission.
That price sees the 'R' sit between the regular SportsCat and SportsCat+ variants which are priced from $60,790 and $66,790 respectively. The SportsCat R includes a styling kit HSV says "takes the vehicle's distinctive street presence to another level" and the limited-edition model will be offered exclusively in Mineral Black prestige paint.
The highly-specified Colorado also features a gloss-black grille, lower fascia and 18-inch alloy wheels shod in Cooper Zeon LTZ Pro Sports All-terrain tyres. These are contrasted by red highlights on the bonnet bulge, lower grille section and sailplane, and a distinctive HSV decal on the tub.
Interior details include premium SV sports seats wrapped in Jasmine leather and Windsor suede with twin needle red stitching, a finish that extends to the instrument panel, door inserts, centre console lid and steering wheel. Branded floor mats complete the deal.
Like all Colorado SportsCat variants the 'R' includes HSV's Sports Suspension with unique stability control and damper tune, wider wheel track and increased frontal ride height.
A four-piston, 362mm rotor AP Racing front brake package is available optionally for $1995, while a plastic tub liner is a $300 accessory.
The Holden Colorado has several accessorised up-spec models to its name, including the Z71, and this latest special-edition joins others striking dual-cab utes such as the Toyota HiLux Rugged X and Ford Ranger Wildtrak models.
Currently the $74,990 Ford Ranger Raptor is the king of this particular dual-cab hill, but HSV has already expressed interest in developing its own desert dueler.
