Little extra charge for extended-range BMW i3

Quirky EV now available with larger-capacity battery for just $2000 more

BMW's i3 EV will arrive in local dealerships from October, offering buyers a 94Ah battery that promises a 200km range in everyday driving, or up to 320km with the Range Extender option.

Since our report last week, BMW has revealed that the larger battery (up from 60Ah), will add just $2000 to the price of the i3 EV and the range-extended model. That takes the price of the basic i3 to $65,900 and the i3 REX to $71,900. The 60Ah battery remains available for those customers who have no need for the extra range and won't stump up the $2000.

"BMW remains at the forefront of providing e-mobility solutions, and the upgraded battery package of the latest BMW i3 is proof of this," BMW Australia MD Marc Werner was quoted saying in a press release issued today.

"It reinforces the BMW i brand's innovative strength and builds on the positive reactions drawn from the recently-launched iPerformance vehicles; products that directly benefit from the work done at BMW i."

Pricing
i3 – $63,900,
i3 REX – $69,900,
i3 94Ah – $65,900,
i3 94Ah REX – $71,900
