To better align itself with the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix round in Melbourne next year, organisers of the Longford Revival Festival, Octagon Australia, have rescheduled the popular event.
Now occurring on the weekend of March 24 – 25, the second annual Longford Revival Festival will celebrate the glory days of the sport.
Held in the Tasmanian town made famous in the 1950s and 60s, the revised timing is set to bring significant benefits to the festival, and the town itself.
“Having the Festival just six days after the F1 race in Melbourne means we will be able to attract some of the people and the machines that will be in the country for the Grand Prix to also attend the Longford Revival Festival,” explained event director, Mark Perry.
“The original date for 2012 was two weeks after Melbourne, but it was proving to be very difficult to keep specific people and a number of well-known cars in the country for that long before they came down here.
Perry said the 2012 will see a number of internationally significant cars in attendance, as well as some unique Australian car collections. A highlight of the event, the Flying Mile, will benefit from an upgrade of the site on which it is held, the Pateena Road.

The Melbourne round of the Formula 1 Grand Prix will be held from March 15 - 18.
