The new head of styling for the Fiat Group, Lorenzo Ramaciotti, has an extensive background in design with the most famous Italian design studio and practically grew up with supercars.
Born in the northern Italian town of Modena -- a community with both Maserati and Ferrari connections -- Ramaciotti studied mechanical engineering at the Turin Polytechnic and commenced working in 1973 with famed design house, Pininfarina. He rose through the ranks to the post of CEO in 2002.
During his time with Pininfarina, he was responsible for the style of the Maserati Quattroporte (more here), Ferrari 550 Maranello, 360 Modena, Enzo, F430 and 612 Scaglietti.
Ramaciotti's move from Pininfarina to the Fiat Group makes him ultimately accountable for the design of future Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Lancia and Maserati models, all marques operating under the Fiat Group umbrella.
The appointment officially takes effect from 1 June and Ramaciotti will report directly to CEO of the Fiat Group, Sergio Marchionne.
