Organisers of the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show have confirmed at least nine world debuts will take place at this year’s show from November 20.
Brands now confirmed to reveal vehicles for the first time ever at LA include BMW, Chevrolet, Ford, Honda, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, Porsche, Subaru and Volkswagen.
One of the biggest global reveals will be that of Porsche’s all-new Macan which has been repeatedly seen in spy shots and will go on sale here next year, priced from about $80,000.
MINI will debut its third-generation Cooper hatch in LA, following the reveal of the concept that previews it at the Frankfurt show in September, the MINI Vision Concept.
An unexpected star of the show could be Subaru’s all-new WRX. The new Rex, which will go on sale in Australia early next year, was to have made its world premiere at either the LA or Tokyo shows this year, so Subaru’s inclusion in the list of brands confirmed to stage international reveals at LA makes the WRX almost certain to emerge there.
Subaru revealed a sleek WRX concept at the New York show in April and has confirmed the production version will wear different bodywork to the Impreza upon which it’s based, but more recent spy pics suggest the showroom model will be far more reserved.
Other LA global premieres are expected to include the Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG super-limo and Chevrolet’s new Suburban and Tahoe SUVs.
LA show organisers have confirmed that more than 50 global and North American debuts will be presented in at least 25 news conferences on the day, including a world debut among up to eight vehicle reveals from BMW.
This year’s LA show kicks off on the same day as the Tokyo show in Japan and the Guangzhou show in China.
