Ateco Automotive has announced an aggressive new pricing policy for the Lotus Elise in Australia.
The recently appointed distributor for the sports car marque has reduced the price of the entry-level Elise to $67,990 — a saving of $8000, based on the difference in price and the now standard inclusion of Sports Pack equipment.
It's the same story for the Elise SC, now priced at $77,990, a discount of $23,000 when the newly standard Sports Pack is factored into the equation. Previously an option, the Sports Pack comprises stability control for the Elise 1.6, Lotus Traction Control System for the Elise SC and the following features for both cars: twin oil coolers, Bilstein Sports Dampers; Y spoke forged alloy wheels in Hi-Power Silver and ProBax Sports Seats.
“Our changes to the Lotus Elise for the Australian market are absolutely in line with the Lotus ethos,” says Glen Sealey, General Manager for Lotus in Australia.
“The addition of the Sports Pack as standard further sharpens and hones the performance and sporting appeal of a car that is already a handling and road holding benchmark. The new pricing ensures that the Elise maintains the position held by generations of Lotus road cars, that of a car with giant-killing abilities at an affordable price.”
While the Elise has been the most affordable Lotus on sale in Australia it is beginning to show its age — and with the manufacturer reportedly planning a replacement in 2014, this latest marketing action could be the final push for the current model.
