Lotus Australia is set to release a limited number of special-edition Lotus Exige Sport 410 coupes in celebration of the model’s success in Targa competition.
Originally set to be unveiled in the lead-up to the 29th Targa Tasmania tarmac rally this month – which was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic – the special-edition is now being revealed online.
Limited to just 10 units and exclusive to Australia only, the Lotus Exige Sport 410 Targo Edition brings a host of unique extra equipment to ensure its exclusivity, including carbon-fibre enhancements and a numbered interior build plate.
For $174,990 (before dealer delivery and on-road costs), other standard features include cup-style side air intakes and a rear wing – both in carbon-fibre – Targa details around the exterior and the choice of any metallic colour in the Lotus range.
In the cockpit, more Targa-specific gear includes carbon-fibre race seats, a harness bar, four-point harness for the driver and a fire extinguisher.
Lotus says these extras “make the car ready for entry level driving at Targa, or any of the many track day and sprint events available for Lotus customers”.
Those wanting to up the ante and enter other motorsport events can option a dealer-fit Australian motorsport-compliant roll cage.
The drivetrain of the Lotus Exige Sport 410 remains untouched and the 3.5-litre supercharged V6 engine remains good for 305kW of power and 420Nm of torque.
This is sent through a six-speed manual transmission and allows the two-seat sports car to reach triple digits in just 3.4 seconds.
Like standard Exige Sport 410 models, stopping power comes from AP Racing forged four-piston callipers, while four drive modes include normal, sport, race and TCS off.
Ultra-lightweight forged alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, adjustable dampers, adjustable front and rear roll bars and a carbon-fibre front splitter, front access panel and rear boot lid also come standard, as on regular Sport 410 coupe models.
The Lotus Exige Sport 410 Targo Edition also comes with a three-year/unlimited kilometre warranty and three years of roadside assistance.
Having won the Australian Targa Championship to back in 2018 and 2019, Lotus Cars Australia boss Lee Knappett said it seemed fitting to pay tribute to the Exige with a limited-edition version.
“The Exige V6 has proven its credentials as a Targa car, so it seems fitting that is be the platform chosen for the limited-edition,” he said.
