Lotus is no stranger to the practice of churning out limited-edition versions of its mainstream models, and the latest addition to the catalogue is the Exige V6 Cup.
Due to roll out of the company’s Hethel factory from December, just 20 examples of the low-volume Exige will be offered for sale. It will be available in two variants – a Track Day version priced in the UK from £62,995 ($94,520 in our money), and a hardcore Competition-spec car priced from £74,995 ($112,525).
Tipping the scales at a lithe 1080kg, the Exige Cup’s supercharged 3.5-litre V6 (which is as per the Exige S) pumps out 258kW, enabling the mid-engined coupe to sprint from 0-100km/h in a brisk 3.8sec and reach a top whack of 275km/h.
Depending on the occasion and the degree to which the red mist has descended, the driver can tailor engine and traction settings to Touring, Sport or Race intensity via the Lotus Dynamic Performance Management system.
Other features unique to the Exige Cup include Pirelli P-Zero Trofeo tyres, multi-adjustable suspension and an aero-optimised front splitter, rear diffuser and wing.
In keeping with competition regulations, the track-focused Exige also scores a roll cage, FIA-approved fire extinguisher, HANS-compliant race seats and a removable steering wheel. Buyers have the option of choosing between four- or six-point race harnesses.
The Exige V6 Cup was initially conceived to compete in Lotus Cup series around the world, and would-be owners can place their order through the dealer network or purchase one directly from Lotus Racing.
