Fans can now lay their hands on the track-oriented Lotus Exige for less than $80,000. Lotus has dropped the price of the Exige down to $79,990 just days after the importer announced similar price and spec adjustments for the Elise.
The new price for the Exige is $25,000 below the previous figure of $104,990 and the newly appointed distributor for the brand, Ateco Automotive, has also negotiated with the factory for a further $6000 worth of equipment fitted as standard, taking the value adjustment up to $31,000.
As with the Elise, it's the addition of the Sport Pack as standard that accounts for the extra equipment. In the context of the Exige, the Sport Pack comprises Lotus Traction Control System, twin oil coolers, Bilstein Sports Dampers; Y spoke forged alloy wheels in Hi-Power Silver and ProBax Sports Seats.
“These remarkable new price and specifications clearly demonstrate our determination to take Lotus to a new level in the Australian car market,” said Glen Sealey, General Manager for Lotus in Australia, quoted in a press release issued by the company.
“Aided by the strength of the dollar, we have committed to expanding Lotus sales in Australia and Lotus have responded by sharpening their pencil and ticking additional boxes in the equipment list. This combination means that the remarkable performance provided by the Exige, which some say is the nearest to a pure track car it is possible to own and still be able to drive on the road, is now much more easy to acquire and enjoy.”
