Lucid Motors has done a deal with Saudi Arabia’s government to supply a fleet of police cruisers based on its Lucid Air luxury EV sedan.
Touted as the first-ever Lucid cop cars, images of the all-electric interceptors were posted on social media following the Lucid Air’s launch at the World Defence Show in the Saudi capital Riyadh.
As well as usual modifications such as the siren and strobe lights, the Lucid Air cop car features a special roof-mounted carrier that turns into a drone launcher.
Inside, the luxurious cabin is believed to have been modified to include extra screens and communication equipment.

It’s not known which Air variant will be pressed into police duties, but even the base rear-drive models pump out an impressive 321kW.
We expect the Saudi police force might steer towards the more powerful dual-motor versions that produce either 462kW or 611kW.
Both offer ballistic levels of performance, with the faster of the two capable of 0-60mph (0-97km/h) in less than 3.0 seconds.
If that’s still not quick enough, there’s always the hypercar-hunting Lucid Air Sapphire that pumps out an incredible 920kW and can launch from 0-60mph (0-97km/h) in just 1.89 seconds, before topping out at 330km/h.
If you’re wondering why the oil rich nation is investing in a fleet of Lucid EVs, Saudi Arabia’s sovereign fund holds a 60 per cent share of Lucid Motors.
Also owning a large slice of other EV brands, Saudi Arabia has committed to purchasing up to 100,000 EVs over the next decade.
Lucid Motors will also begin manufacturing within the region, with the Saudi government hoping the EV brand will help the country’s own transition from combustion power to EVs.
