Land Rover's first long-wheelbase Range Rover will make its global debut at motor shows in Guangzhou (China) and LA near the end of November.
A sizeable 140 millimetres of extra rear legroom, rear seats that recline 17 degrees, tray tables, drink chillers, electric rear window blinds, panoramic sunroof and the option of individual "Executive Class" rear pews are just some of the bespoke features that will be fitted to the new Range Rover, which will will begin reaching customers during the second quarter of 2014.
The extra rear legroom has been found by stretching the wheelbase at a point between the rear wheels and the end of the front doors, allowing Land Rover to maintain the Range Rover’s distinctive profile.
"With the addition of the Range Rover long wheelbase to our portfolio of luxury SUVs, customers can now choose a vehicle that offers superior levels of interior space and comfort to compete in a market dominated by saloon cars up until this point," said Phil Popham, Group Marketing Director, Jaguar Land Rover.
Therefore, Land Rover could be head hunting customers who may have previously opted for a Mercedes Benz S-Class, BMW’s 7 Series,Lexus LS and the Audi A8 as their luxury vehicle of choice.
An "L" badge graces each of the front quarter panels to signal to other motorists that the long Range Rover is a little more special than the "standard" Rangie. Customers will be able to buy their LWR Range Rover in either Vogue, Vogue SE and Autobiography specifications with the choice of TDV6, SDV8 and 5.0 V8 diesel and petrol engines.
Australian prices and delivery dates are yet to be revealed.
