GENEVA MOTOR SHOW: Lynk & Co 03 Cyan Concept unwrapped

Chinese car-maker shows off sports sedan based on Lynk & Co 03 that could point towards future BMW M3-rival

Geely has unveiled a wild new Lynk & Co 03 Cyan Concept at today's Geneva motor show.

Created in collaboration with Cyan Racing, that used to be named Polestar, the Lynk & Co 03 Cyan Concept is said to draw direct inspiration from the 03 TCR touring car.

Rumoured to preview a future high-performance sedan from the premium Chinese brand, the Lynk & Co 03 Cyan Concept has been mooted as a potential BMW M3 rival.

Powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder, the 03 Cyan produces a heroic 389kW and 504Nm of torque.

Like the racer, the latest Lynk & Co combines the muscular turbo petrol with a six-speed sequential transmission but unlike its more established German rivals, that power is channeled to the road via the front wheels, although a traction-enhancing limited-slip diff is part of the 03 Cyan's armoury.

Weighing in at just 1287kg -- more than 200kg less than a BMW M3 -- Lynk & Co claims the Cyan Concept can hit 100km/h in less than 4.4 seconds, 200km/h in less than 10 seconds and top out at an incredible 309km/h.

Thanks to a wide track, and a grippier bespoke suspension set-up, Cyan Racing engineers claim that the fast 03 can generate up to 1.5G in cornering forces.

Lowering lap times the 03 Cyan comes with uprated brakes and a motorsport-inspired aero aids that include a huge rear wing, side skirts, front splitter and aggressive rear diffuser.

Fuelling rumours Lynk & Co are serious in challenging the establishment with a performance flagship based on its small sedan the 03 Cyan Concept is said to currently be undergoing testing in Spain.

Cyan Racing team has also confirmed it will join the 03 TCR racer for further development out on track ahead of the 2019 FIA World Touring Car Championship, that starts this April.
