LYNK & CO’s second model has emerged online after the advertising agency linked to the fledgling Chinese premium brand posted full images of the all-new concept vehicle on its website.
Named the '02', the new premium sedan created to rival the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series and Mercedes C-Class, follows LYNK & CO's concept for its first model, the 01 SUV.
Featuring front and rear scissor frameless doors, the pillar-less sedan’s large chunky exterior mirrors suggest the concept car in these images is close to production specifications.
There is no clear shot of the interior but we can glimpse a virtual dash likely to be fully configurable.
While the concept is thought to run a new pure-electric powertrain, when the 02 launches in 2019-2020, expect it to share conventional engines and transmissions with the 01 SUV that goes on sale next year.
That rationale is based on the LYNK & CO 02 sharing Volvo's next 40-series platform (Geely own both brands).
Most models then will come with a new 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol-electric hybrid powertrain driving through either a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Range-topping versions will come with a larger 2.0-litre turbo petrol made under licence from Volvo.
When the brand finally begins selling models, LYNK & CO has declared it will "democratise car-sharing" by becoming the automotive equivalent of Airbnb.
It has already released a video previewing how LYNK & CO owners will be able to combine a smartphone App and the car's own infotainment system to allow others to drive your car when it's not in use.
