BMW has devised an M Sport option pack for the X5. It's the first time since the X5 went on sale in Australia that such a pack has been available to consumers.
Buyers can specify the M Sport pack for any X5 variant, but the nature of the option -- and its price -- varies with different variants, although all vehicles will be identifiable by the same aerodynamic body kit that forms part of the package.
The kit comprises body-colour bumpers, side skirts, colour-coordinated side protection strips and wider wheel arches. Satin-finish aluminium window surrounds and high-gloss satin chrome roof rails are other visual cues.
BMW offers the M Sport Package for the X5 in the following colours: Alpine White, Titanium Silver metallic, Space Grey metallic, Monaco Blue metallic, Black Sapphire metallic and Carbon Black metallic.
Under the wheel arches, the X5 rides on 19-inch alloy wheels and a sports suspension set-up comprising firmer dampers and springs, although this suspension is not included if the Adaptive Drive system is specified.
Wrapped around the 19-inch alloys, the tyres measure 255/50 R19 at the front and 285/45 R19 at the rear. Lower-profile rubber and 20-inch alloys are available as a further optional upgrade with the pack.
Electrically-adjustable front seats include a memory function for the driver's. An M-design leather-bound steering wheel is complemented by brushed-aluminium decorative trim and an anthracite headlining.
Pricing of the M Sport package for the X5 ranges from $5400 for the X5 xDrive48i to $11,000 for the X5 xDrive30i/d variants ($8000 for the same variants trimmed to 'Executive' level). The 20-inch wheel option costs a further $2648 and all-up costs are reduced by $635 for those vehicles also fitted with Adaptive Drive.
