Mad Max car on show
One of the radical vehicles used to film Mad Max: Fury Road is on show in the Sydney CBD to coincide with the movie’s Australian release todayOne of the cars featured in Mad Max: Fury Road, a chop-top FJ Holden rat rod, dubbed Cranky Frank, is on display to the public at Event Cinemas’ George Street Sydney venue to coincide with the movie’s Australian debut today.
The FJ has a 4-intake supercharged V8 installed and during the film is occupied by a crew of two – a driver sitting behind the tower of carburettors and a belt-driven blower and a tail-gunner on the load tray. Cranky Frank is the point vehicle for the personal retinue and convoy guard of one of the film’s lead character’s Immortan Joe.
The FJ, along with costumes such as those worn by Tom Hardy, starring as Max Rockatansky, are on display at Event Cinemas George Street in the Sydney CBD until Sunday 17 May.
Yesterday other vehicles used in Mad Max: Fury Road were paraded throughout the City of Sydney, culminating in a public showcase in front of the Sydney Opera House.
The array of trucks, sedans, pick-ups and motorbikes were parked on the Sydney Opera House forecourt with specialised production crew on hand to answer questions and provide background information. A live demonstration, featuring cast members in full costume, provided a sneak peek into the post-apocalyptic world that director George Miller has created.
Mad Max: Fury Road is now screening at cinemas across Australia.
