Mahindra has teased a single image of a new affordable alternative to the BMW X4.
Called the XUV Aero Concept, the all-new SUV from the Indian car-maker appears to have wide flared wheel-arches, a rakish rear boot line and a bold rear-end that includes three-blade rear tail-lights that are reminiscent of the Ford Mustang. Look closer and there’s even a sporty underbody diffuser.
Set to be revealed at next month’s bi-annual Auto Expo in New Delhi, the new XUV Aero SUV concept follows the car-maker’s public acquisition of Pininfarina, although its timing means it’s unlikely the famous Italian styling house had any involvement in the design.
Thought to be based on Mahindra’s current front-wheel drive monocoque architecture, any production version could be powered by the car-maker’s entry-level 61kW/115Nm 1.2-litre turbo-diesel that also powers the ultra-cheap KUV100 micro-SUV that’s priced, in India, from less than $10,000.
