Money
can't buy style. Those are the findings of the latest survey by
motoring.com.au's informed sets of eyeballs after viewing images of the
Mercedes-Benz G-Class Sahara
Edition by Swiss vehicle customiser Mansory.
The
curious new take on Mercedes' old, bold off-road vehicles by
the Swiss aftermarket tuner provides the vehicle with
military-inspired camo exterior finish, not to mention a number of
carbon-fibre bodywork add-ons.
The imposing Swiss-German creation is
80mm wider than the regular Mercedes-AMG G63 upon which it's based, is
festooned with flood lights and rides on gargantuan 22-inch alloy wheels
shod with low-profile 305/35 street tyres.
Power from the SUV's
biturbo V8 has been boosted from a butch 400kW/760Nm to a ludicrous
618kW and 1000Nm, thanks to several significant powertrain tweaks,
including new cylinder heads, pistons, con rods and crankshaft. It also
gets a new stainless steel exhaust system to let the suburb know you're
in transit.
But the most astounding change to the car is the interior.
Mansory
has given the cabin a special 'army' finish comprised of green and
white leather and alcantara with camo 'marbling'. The dashboard has been
completely redesigned to add more bling, while "embroidered stylized
Falcon" wings emblazoned across the door inserts, glovebox and seats leave a
lasting effect.
The razzle-dazzle Swiss-tuned Benz is priced at €770,000, which translates to $1,136,642 and 79 cents at the time of writing.
