Manual Aston Martin Vantage AMR teased

Small Aston Martin Vantage AMR set to get seven-speed manual and track-bred suspension, brakes and aero

Aston Martin has released its first tease of its faster Aston Martin AMR coupe that will come with the option of a manual transmission.

Created to be a more hardcore version of the small Aston coupe, the Aston Martin AMR was previewed over the weekend by an image that highlights the presence of a third clutch pedal.

Following on from both AMR versions of both the bigger DB11 and Rapide sedan, the Aston Martin Vantage AMR will reintroduce the manual gearbox option to the small coupe since it was dropped by the previous-gen Vantage back in 2017.

It's not been confirmed yet if the Vantage AMR will use either the six-speed manual of the last model, or the dog-leg seven-speed transmission of the old V12 Vantage S – but it's tipped to be the latter to match the same number of ratios used in the current Porsche 911 Carrera.

Under the bonnet, the Vantage AMR's Mercedes-AMG-sourced twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 is expected to produce more power than the standard Vantage's 375kW and 685Nm with the faster Aston coupe potentially nudging closer to the 430kW and 700Nm of the Mercedes-AMG GT R.

Other changes expected for the Vantage AMR are the introduction of a stiffer more track-friendly suspension, bigger brakes and reworked aerodynamics.

Stay tuned because Aston Martin is expected to reveal its faster Vantage AMR soon.
