Mark Webber has announced that he is quitting racing after 25 years of competing.
Over his career, the NSW driver won nine F1 races and scored a WEC championship title, the latter while racing with Porsche.
Most famous for his 12-year long F1 career racing for the likes of Minardi, Jaguar and Williams, it was during 2007-2013 driving for Red Bull Racing where the lanky son of a Queanbeyan motorcycle dealer demonstrated his world class.
Forced to play support act to Sebastian Vettel, Webber placed third in the driver's championship three times demonstrating his speed and class both on (and off) the track even when, controversially, he had to cede a win for a slower teammate.
Following the Red Bull years Webber moved to Porsche to help with the German car-maker's return to sports car racing. In his second season racing the 919 Hybrid, Webber became the World Endurance Champion, along with fellow drivers Timo Bernhard and Brendon Hartley.
Webber has announced he's will remain with Porsche as brand ambassador following his final race at the 6 Hours Bahrain on November 19.
