The Finer Details

Launched globally in 2022 and offered in Australia since 2023, the fundamentals of the luxury five-seat all-wheel-drive SUV lineup in terms of looks, equipment and mechanicals remains familiar, with the focus on detail updates.

The global lineup continues to start with mild-hybrid 2.0-litre turbo-petrol, then upscaling to a turbocharged V6 petrol and battery-electric above that.

The four-cylinder engine will continue to be offered in two states of tune across the entry-level Grecale and mid-spec Modena trims, making 184kW/420Nm and 221kW/420Nm respectively and clocking 0-100km/h in 6.3 and 5.3 seconds.

However, a detuned version of the Nettuno V6 from the Trofeo flagship making 287kW/500Nm – down from 390kW/620Nm – will also now be offered in the base Grecale and Modena.

This engine has already been given a trial run in North America. The detuned V6 manages 0-100km/h in 4.9 seconds, while the gruntier Trofeo cuts that 3.8 seconds.

All ICE variants continue to drive via an eight-speed automatic.

Maserati says the dual-motor 410kW Folgore BEV will come closer to hitting its 580km claimed range thanks to new opening (and closing) grille flaps and optimisation of bumper and body aerodynamics.

It manages 0-100km/h in 4.1 seconds.

Beyond that, Maserati is highlighting changes such as a new shark-nose inspired by the MCPURA supercar and single-seaters from days of yore, a new grille and a front bumper with aero-aiding air curtains.

There are also new 20- and 21-inch alloy wheel choices.

Inside there are now metal gear selection buttons with a haptic function, the ability to swap between drive and reverse via the flappy paddles, a new steering wheel, a redesigned digital clock and the addition of a driver monitoring camera.

The Road Ahead

The Grecale is Maserati’s top-selling model in Australia, having accounted for 79 of its 80 sales so far this year ending May.

That’s well down on the 121 sales recorded to the end of May 2025, but with the GranTurismo and GranCabrio also switching over to an update, the downturn is understandable.

No pricing has been announced for the new Grecale lineup as yet.

In Australia, four models are currently sold: the GT, the Modena, Trofeo and Folgore.

Pricing starts around $120,000 before on-road costs and climbs beyond $200,000 for the current Folgore.
