The distributor of Maserati cars in Australia, Ateco Automotive, has issued a recall notice for nearly 800 Quattroportes and Ghiblis sold in Australia.
According to the recall notice, both models are susceptible to screws loosening, allowing the rear toe adjustment to change from the factory settings. Without the correct rear-wheel alignment it may be difficult to keep the car under control and could endanger the driver, passengers and other road users, the distributor warns.
Ateco is asking owners to contact their nearest Maserati dealer to have the fault checked and rectified. After an inspection, during which the screws are torque tested, they are then replaced with an upgraded screw with a thread lock to ensure added security.
According to Ateco, the screws in question are not faulty, it’s a matter of the torque setting applied at the time of manufacture. With a thread lock the new screws will stay in place at all times.
