The 2026 Mazda 6e has been priced and detailed for Australia, with the Chinese-built EV set to arrive in July with a choice of two variants starting at just under $50,000 before on-road costs. And, while it’s set to offer more than 550km of range from a full battery, local versions of the 6e won’t be as potent as first expected.
The two-grade line-up opens from $49,990 plus on-road costs and tops out at $52,990 (plus ORCs) for the range-topping Atenza, putting the Japanese brand’s new EV in swinging distance of the BYD Seal (from $49,888) and Tesla Model 3 (from $54,900).
In Australia, every version of the 6e will come powered by a rear-mounted e-motor good for 190kW/290Nm. Those figures represent a 10kW power bump compared to the UK-spec 6e, along with a 30Nm drop in torque.
The final torque figure also marks a significant drop compared to the 380Nm figure originally expected from sedan.
Meanwhile, a 78kWh lithium iron phosphate battery is standard across the range and claimed to deliver up to 560km of range as well as a combined energy consumption figure of 15.9kWh/100km.

DC fast charging will take the 6e’s battery from 30 to 80 per cent in approximately 15 minutes, says Mazda.
A larger NMC battery pack offered overseas won’t be offered Down Under.
Standard equipment for the Mazda 6e GT includes 19-inch alloy wheels, tri-zone climate control, advanced keyless entry, augmented reality driving display, a huge 14.6-inch central touch-screen, 10.2-inch driver’s instrument cluster, 64-colour ambient interior lighting, Bluetooth key, 14-speaker Sony sound system, and heated/ventilated front seats.
The flagship Atenza adds a swathe of cabin upgrades, including tan leather and synthetic suede upholstery with quilted stitching, a two-tone black/tan leather steering wheel, and a tan synthetic suede lining for the dash and door trim.

All variants will come equipped with autonomous emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian and cyclist detection, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, a 360-degree camera with see-through view, and lane keep assist with departure warning, among other safety features.
Seven exterior colour options include Crystal White Pearl, Deep Crystal Blue Mica, Jet Black Mica and Aero Grey Metallic. Plus, premium colour options which include, Soul Red Crystal Metallic, Machine Grey Metallic and Polymetal Grey Metallic.
An optional warm beige interior trim is offered for GT variants for a $1000 premium.
