Mazda CX-3: FAQs

Mazda’s smallest SUV, the Mazda CX-3 is a top seller for the marque Down Under. Here are the Mazda CX-3 FAQs you asked online

Is Mazda discontinuing the CX-3?

Mazda has announced no plans to discontinue the Mazda CX-3, as the mini-SUV or crossover has proved a very popular model for the Japanese auto manufacturer since its late 2014 launch.

People may get the impression the Mazda CX-3 is under question because Mazda has squeezed the stylish CX-30 into the space between the Mazda CX-3 and the Mazda CX-5.

But the Mazda CX-30 is designed to expand the Mazda SUV line-up rather than act as a replacement for another model.

There’s no doubt the Mazda CX-3 is due soon for a generational overhaul that would see it adopt the latest SKYACTIV technology already featured by the Mazda CX-30 and latest Mazda3.

Is the Mazda CX 3 good in snow?

Although it is officially branded as an SUV, the reality is the Mazda CX-3 is a small car with a raised ride height. While it is available with all-wheel drive, it is more popular fitted with front-wheel drive.

So, if you’re going to the snow the all-wheel drive version of the Mazda CX-3 would be preferable.

We have tested the Mazda CX-3 in snow here and here. But having said that you’ll probably get to that ski resort in a FWD version fitted with chains – depending on conditions, of course.

By the way, the Mazda CX-3 also works okay in the dirt. Check out carsales’ crossing of the Simpson Desert here.
