A new range-topping Grand Touring specification heads the list of changes on Mazda's relaunched CX-9 line-up. Almost two years after its initial launch in Australia the new-look line-up has arrived to give the SUV a sales boost after a drop of over 26 per cent year-to-date.
The addition of the Grand Touring isn't the only change with the whole range featuring a facelift and a minor styling tweak at the rear. At the front there is the company's so-called 'family face' five point grille and new larger lower grille. Changes to the back are restricted to the taillights being flipped so the brake lights run along the bottom instead of the top of the cluster.
Mechanically the same 3.7-litre V6 with 204kW and 367Nm remains but fuel economy -- a criticism of the out-going model -- has been improved to 12.2L/100km. The six-speed automatic remains the only transmission.
All three models -- Classic, Luxury and Grand Touring -- are fitted with three-zone climate control air-conditioning, alloy wheels, cruise control and reversing camera. The Luxury is available with satellite navigation, a standard feature on the Grand Touring.
The new member of the range also adds xenon headlights, remote tailgate, Bluetooth compatibility and keyless ignition on top of the Luxury.
Mazda has dropped the price of the CX-9 on both the Classic and Luxury by $2000 and $3115 respectively.
The updated range is available in showrooms now. Check out our launch video of the Mazda CX-9 at Carsales TV.
