Mazda MX-30 Electric upgraded with faster charging
Mazda’s electric small SUV now takes just 26min to recharge, but range still limited to 200kmThe 2022 Mazda MX-30 all-electric SUV has been updated to allow its modest 35.5kWh battery pack to accept a 50kW DC charge (up from 40kW), slashing the time for a top-up from 20-80 per cent to just 26 minutes.
That's 10 minutes faster than before.
The battery-electric MX-30 is still powered by a 107kW/271Nm electric motor, and there have been no changes to the 200km range offered by the EV.
As part of the 2022 updates, the MX-30 also gets a new audible feedback feature that corresponds with how much throttle is applied.
According to Mazda, the noise is "more aligned with other sounds heard when the car is running, such as wind or road noise – so the driver can recognise the amount of power in a natural manner without the sound being unusual".
In Europe, Mazda has also raised the amount of standard equipment in the MX-30, but in Australia the Nissan LEAF rival is offered in one high-grade trim.
There's no word yet on when the upgraded electric SUV will be introduced Down Under, but in Europe the 2022 Mazda MX-30 is available for order now.
