Mazda has already revealed that the new generation of the manufacturer's small car, the Mazda3, will make its public debut at the Melbourne International Motor Show. Now, as an added fillip, the company has secured an example of the new Mazda3 MPS to go on display in Melbourne the same day as its global launch in Geneva.
The sporty turbo model (more here) will put in an appearance locally on Wednesday, March 4, the same day as the Geneva unveiling.
It's not the first time a new model from Mazda has been given the jet-setting star treatment for an Australian motor show. In 2005, the then new 'NC' model MX-5 was also revealed in Melbourne during the hours following its introduction in Geneva.
With the current Mazda3 still selling well -- outselling any other car during January in fact -- the company plans for the new '3' to go on sale locally in April, with the MPS following sometime in the third quarter of this year.
