McLaren has unveiled ten specially commissioned 570S supercars for its US market.
Created by, and named after the British car maker's bespoke McLaren Special Operations each MSO X is said to feature a fixed wing, roof intake and bonnet ducts lifted from the 570S GT4 racers.
Other motorsport-derived parts used include lighter carbon-fibre body panels and a titanium sports exhaust.
Saving weight further, the hard-core 570S also comes with the same rear bumper cut outs, to slash weight further, and standard fabric tow straps at the front and rear.
Each model also wears aggressive Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres that have been developed for owners who use their McLaren on track.
Inside, there's a pair of lightweight carbon-fibre bucket seats that come with full race harnesses, although there are also regular seat belts for road driving.
The MSO X offers no more power to exploit the additional 100kg rear downforce. That means the 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 produces the same 419kW/600Nm and the MSO X takes the same 3.2 seconds to hit 100km/h.
Painted in a matching colour scheme used on the original McLaren F1 GTR race cars, each of the ten limited editions is claimed to have been sold. It's not known how much of a premium over the standard coupe's $379,000 (plus on-road costs) buyers paid for the special MSO creation.
Next year, McLaren says it will create a one-make Europe-based race series that will feature its McLaren 570S GT4 racer.
