The ground-breaking new 2022 McLaren Artura has been priced at $449,500 plus on-road costs in Australia, where the first example has arrived ahead of first local deliveries in the fourth quarter of this year.
That positions the all-new hybrid supercar above the McLaren 540C ($350,000 plus ORCs), 570S ($395,000), GT ($399,995), 570S Spider ($435,750) and 570GT ($415,000) in the range, but below the 600LT ($455,000), 720S ($489,900), 720S Spider ($556,000) and 765LT ($609,650).
Based around McLaren’s all-new MCLA carbon-fibre platform, the rear-wheel drive McLaren Artura combines a 3.0-litre twin-turbo petrol V6 with an electric motor to develop 500kW of power and 720Nm of torque via an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Among the dazzling performance figures for McLaren’s first series-production High-Performance Hybrid (HPH) supercar, is a claimed 0-100kmh acceleration time of just 3.0 seconds, 0-200km/h in only 8.3sec, 0-300km/h in 21.5sec and a 330km/h top speed.
Its small 7.4kWh lithium-ion battery pack offers a claimed zero-emissions driving range of 30km at speeds of up to 130km/h and takes 2.5 hours to charge to 80 per cent via a household power outlet.
Braking from 100km/h to standstill is claimed to require just 31 metres, thanks to Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres fitted to 19-inch front and 20-inch rear alloy wheels with carbon-ceramic brake discs and six-piston callipers.
Other standard equipment for Australia, where the first McLaren Artura is now commencing a national tour starting in Queensland, will include a full Alcantara-lined interior and 8.0-inch infotainment touch-screen system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
The 2022 McLaren Artura comes with a five-year vehicle warranty, six-year battery warranty and 10-year body warranty.
“Pushing the boundaries of vehicle technology and performance has always sat at the heart of what we strive for at McLaren Automotive,” said the managing director of McLaren Automotive Asia Pacific and China, George Biggs.
“Artura is the essence of this goal, delivering world-class performance, driving engagement and dynamic excellence with the added enhancement of EV driving capability.
“The introduction of the Artura into the Australian market is a significant step for our customers who will appreciate this car.”
