McLaren Automotive has announced that the 10,000th car has rolled off its Woking production line after just five years of car manufacturing.
Posing for pictures with car number 10,000 -- a McLaren 570S painted in ceramic grey -- CEO Mike Flewitt said: "The production of the 10,000th McLaren is a significant milestone in the short history of the company. The fact that it took us 42 months to build our 5000th car and just 22 months to build the next 5000 speaks volumes about the pace of development of the company".
The British car-maker said part of the reason the sales volume has ramped up recently is because it introduced a second shift at the factory to help meet demand for the 540C, 570S and 570GT models.
McLaren now makes around 20 cars per day, up from 2015's 10 vehicles.
Thanks to the increase in manufacturing capacity, the car-maker claims it will make more than 3000 cars this year -- almost twice the 1654 made the year before.
Instead of selling on the special 570S on to a customer, the small Sport Series McLaren will be added to the car-maker's heritage collection.
