McLaren will celebrate its 60th birthday by offering buyers a host of visual upgrades to its full range of cars that pay tribute to the British brand’s glorious racing past.
The package of 60th anniversary-themed interior and exterior upgrades are centred around McLaren’s winning of the Triple Crown that remains motorsport’s most coveted prize.
To win it you must score victory in three of the sport’s most prestigious races – the Indianapolis 500, Monaco Grand Prix and the Le Mans 24 Hour.
That explains the three new exterior paint colour options that are all inspired by the cars that helped win the Triple Crown.
The first is a new Indy Orange solid paint that replicates the 1974 Indy 500-winning M16D.
The next is Monaco White that mirrors the 1984 MP4/2 – although winning the famous street circuit 15 times, the British supercar-maker had plenty of choice for colour schemes.
Completing the trio is a new Le Mans Grey that honours the victorious F1 GTR that won the world’s most famous endurance race back in 1995.
Triple Crown Stripes are also available on the McLaren 750S, limited to 60 cars and running up the centre of the bonnet and over the rear wing.
As well as the stripes there’s also a new Triple Crown logo on the bonnet while at the rear under the table-top-sized active rear wing there’s ‘Triple Crown’ branding. Up top is another logo listing the ’74, ’84 and ’95 dates.
Any 750S ordered with the stripes will get a ‘1 of 60’ dedicated plaque to highlight its rarity.
Other exterior changes include two new 60th Anniversary brake calliper colours – Indy Blue and Le Mans Gold, with the latter matching the F1 GTR’s brake calliper hue.
The new calliper colours are now available on the 750S, GT and Artura.
New McLaren cars ordered with gloss carbon-fibre door mirrors can also add 60th Anniversary ‘Speedy Kiwi’ logos in either orange or silver. The logos match the new plaque in the cabin that will be fitted to any car ordered with 60th Anniversary options; the cute McLaren Speedy Kiwi mascot was originally plastered on Bruce McLaren’s own racing cars.
Also inside is a new Indy Orange steering wheel centre line marker for those who order a carbon-fibre wheel. The tiller can also be specified with new Triple Crown-striped gearshift paddles.
McLaren says the 60th Anniversary options are now available to order on all series production cars.
