McLaren launch new luxury sneakers

The Athletic Propulsion Labs sneakers are inspired by McLaren’s iconic hypercars and are available in five exclusive colours.

McLaren and APL, the high-performance athletic footwear brand, have joined forces to create a new range of luxury footwear that combines the two brand's love of design, performance, technology, and construction.

This one-of-a-kind footwear has resulted in an entirely new silhouette being developed, the APL | McLaren HySpeed, which is designed as an all-purpose performance running trainer available in five bespoke colourways, directly influenced by McLaren’s supercars.

This new collection with Athletic Propulsion Labs marks the luxury supercar maker’s first footwear collaboration. McLaren is no stranger to collaborations and luxury items either, with sunglasses, luggage and bags, watches and even LEGO available to purchase.

The shoes, like the car it’s inspired by, are packed with innovative design and technology, including APL’s patented Load ‘N Launch technology designed to instantly increase vertical leap. It also employs McLaren’s hyper luxury Speedtail in its design.

The APL | McLaren HySpeed features a three-piece segmented midsole with APL FutureFoam pods in the front and rear that are connected by a full-length lightweight carbon fibre plate topped by an all-new nitrogen-infused midsole compound that is engineered for supreme responsiveness and energy-rich compression.

The shoe also has a microfibre heel with extended wings and an internal advanced fitment system with three-piece cushion heel padding and APL’s signature Souffle Sockliner. While the outsole also references design details of McLaren’s supercars, featuring a tread pattern inspired by performance tyres that are designed for speed and grip.

The shoes also come with a specially designed drawer-style box that has almost as many features as the shoes themselves. Pull out the drawer you are presented with a black inner box and transparent smoked black shoe cover that displays the technical blueprint drawing of the shoe tooling.

Also pulling the drawer out all the way reveals a line drawing of the McLaren F1 road car, one of the most iconic and desirable supercars ever made.
