McLaren peels $100K off 12C purchase price
Pricing for MP4-12 C and 12C Spider lowered substantially, existing owners to be reimbursed at trade-in timeMcLaren has announced revised pricing for its MP4-12C and 12C Spider models in the Australian market – and as furniture retailers are fond of saying, prices have been slashed.
The two cars have dropped in price by roughly 20 per cent (equating to around $100,000 off the top). That places the MP4-12C – formerly $493,100 – at a new price point of $398,000. The open-top 12C Spider is also discounted – to $441,780 – from its previous price of $543,900.
In a press release issued today the prestige importer advised that the new pricing structure takes place immediately and existing owners will be reimbursed when they trade in the car on a new model. The company claims it is a pioneer, responding to marketplace perceptions that products in the 'super luxury sports car segment' are overpriced in Australia.
Buyers in this market segment negotiate heavily discounted transaction prices, according to McLaren, and that supposedly hurts the exotic brand... still a relative unknown in Australia. The new pricing for McLaren is now in line with other markets, says the company's regional director for the Asia Pacific area, Ian Gorsuch.
“McLaren today introduces revised pricing in Australia, leading the way in the super luxury sports car segment by benchmarking its pricing against competitive international markets,” he said in the press release.
“This is exciting progress for McLaren, our dealer partner Trivett and for our Australian customers. Since launching in Australia 12 months ago, the McLaren 12C and 12C Spider have changed the Australian motoring landscape. Now, with revised pricing, our Australian customers will enjoy even greater access to McLaren’s renowned market leading technology, quality, high-performance and innovation.”
Both the coupe and the Spider are sold through Trivett's local dealerships, in Sydney and Melbourne.
