A production prototype of McLaren’s enhanced MP4-12C will make its public debut at this weekend’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, with 2009 Formula One world champ Jenson Button piloting the mid-engined supercar in the three-day motoring bonanza’s signature hillclimb event.
McLaren will also use the Goodwood festivities to roll out a 12C GT3 race car (pictured alongside) adorned with a Union jack-inspired livery, signaling the company’s support for the GREAT campaign, designed to promote UK’s sport, trade and tourism industries – particularly timely given the London Olympics are just around the corner.
McLaren has favoured the Goodwood FoS to showcase its latest offerings, as last year the brand debuted the 12C GT3 race car, resplendent in the company’s trademark orange livery, while the previous year it was the road-going 12C that was the star of the show.
As previously reported, the updated 12C gets a power boost from 441kW to 460kW, along with
throttle and gearshift modifications designed to enhance the driving experience.
In addition, a range of styling options is now available to order for the new 12C, including a striking Volcano Yellow paint finish and exclusive new interior trim comprising high quality semi-aniline perforated leather and Alcantara. There’s also a new diamond-cut finish available for multiple wheel designs.
The production prototype 12C prepared for the Michelin Supercar Run at Goodwood is coated in a Volcano Red exterior colour, features the new optional leather interior and rides on forged alloys with the diamond-cut finish.
Punters lucky enough to actually be at the event will have the opportunity to ogle both the road-going Mac and the Union Jack-liveried racer in the Goodwood Supercar Paddock.
